Nevada Telecommunications Company Pioneers Deployment of Millimeter Wave Spectrum
1Velocity, a Nevada-based telecommunications company, has been named one of the top 50 emerging companies in the U.S. in the fifth annual FundingPost Pitching Across America(TM) competition.
1Velocity provides Ethernet private line and Internet connections to businesses and public institutions on a proprietary carrier-class metro Ethernet network built on the recently commercialized “millimeter wave” (70 to 95 GHz) spectrum. This network is the fastest local exchange network in the country, with the ability to deliver breakthrough speeds and capacities ranging from eight megabits per second (8Mbps) up to 2.5 gigabits per second (Gbps) with extremely low latency.
FundingPost (http://www.FundingPost.com), a company that introduces entrepreneurs to investors, established the Pitching Across America competition in which 130 venture capital funds and angel investors judged more than 300 business summaries from emerging companies nationwide. This year’s competition was the largest venture capital competition ever organized. Emerging companies were evaluated on their current stage of development (customers, revenue), competitive advantage and need in the marketplace and their feasibility for success.
"Our venture capital judges found 1Velocity’s business summary really compelling because they could understand the need that it meets,” said Joe Rubin Director, FundingPost. “Major enterprises and governments will dramatically use more bandwidth in coming years and the ‘millimeter wave’ spectrum provides an extremely cost effective solution to the ‘last mile’ problem. 1Velocity is the pioneer nationally in the deployment of this spectrum and is making great progress in commercializing this technology for telecommunications purposes."
The “last mile” is the final portion of delivering connectivity from a communications provider to a customer. A term commonly used by the telecommunications and cable industries, the last mile is typically seen as an expensive challenge because connecting individual homes and businesses is a considerable physical undertaking.
"We are all honored to receive this recognition from such an impressive list of companies and to have garnered national attention," said Mike Ballard, CEO of 1Velocity. "FundingPost has given us an opportunity to reach an excellent selection of visionary investors. While our customer base continues to grow, the right funding partner can accelerate our progress and the creation of significant company value."
